skoda pickup problem

Featured Replies

hi, i've a wee bit of a strange problem on my 1998 1.9d skoda pickup,

there's like a thumping, wobbly sensation coming from the front end,

only realy happens when i pickup speed and turn the steering slightly from side to side,

seem's worse when i turn to the right, driving in a straight line cant feel anything, feels normal,

defo not a cv joint coz they have been done, recently and a diff type of noise than a cv clicking, more of a thud, thud thud type noise, also when at low speeds i get like a mettallic chuffing type noise as well, adjusted the dust cover behind the wheel but it's still there, are these noise related?

anyone any idea'??

had a quick look round and cant see anything....puzzled:confused::confused:

ps new wheel bearing fitted recently as well,no play in them either.

forgot to put the year!!

It may not be the outer CVs, but do you know the inner joints are OK? Part of what you're describing sounds like inner CV trouble.

worn ball joint??

by inner joints do you mean the part of the drive shaft where the cv joint slides onto? or where the drive shaft connects into the gearbox?

didnt seem much play in them when i was fitting the new cv joints but could be a possibility,

i did notice that when im braking there's quite a wobble coming thru the pedal, disc's and pad's are not to old and the sliders are all good on the calipers,

could that mean the ball joints are shot as teflon tom suggested?

thanks for your input guys :thumbup::thumbup:
