Small annoyance... Jerky throttle

Featured Replies

Hey there folks.

Something that has always happened on my car is a sort of jerky throttle only really while maintaining a light throttle when either going down hill or when slowing down.

It's like a hesitation almost. Not sure what it is.

Temperature sensor is fine.

Well serviced will oil and fuel filters recently done.

Plugs and leads done.

Air filter pretty new.

No other running problems and no hesitation at any other time during driving.

Could a throttle body clean help?

No fault codes showing up either.

Phil

I would try cleaning the throttle body. It wouldn't harm and might make it smoother. I remember a lot of mine were like this.

I get this, espcially at slow speed when moving is busy traffic. It's almost as if the throttle body is closing too quickly. SWMBO's N reg 1.4 Polo does the same, although her's is SPI and mines MPI.

Cool... will whip the throttle body off tomorrow and give it a clean.

Think the throttle design is more or less the same for both SPi and MPi.

Thanks

Phil
