My late father had two of them, at least one of them being a 1750HL with the 'overdrive' gear. The colours had awesome names in those days - one was limeflower, the other was bracken IIRC

Pretty pointless in my book. But that's not stopping BMW Group at the moment. X6 anyone?! Actually, looks a bit like a 'mini'-version of one of those (excuse the pun).

As said, they're simply trying to maximise the return from the brand. You can't really blame them; I just wonder at which point they'll realise they've overdone it, and whether it'll be too late :rubchin:
