235/35/19 tyre pressure????

Featured Replies

Hello,

Does anyone know the correct tyre pressure for 235/35/19's? They are fitted to my Octavia I vRS. I had four Runway tyres which I got last year with a set of TSW Warrier alloys.

Long story short is that Runways have been absolute cack - two remaining on the front have had sidewalls splitting (dangerous if if ask me). I'll do a separate on this as would like others opinions / advice.

Anyway, now have Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta on front and a Toyo T-1R and a Maxus Victa on the rear. What is the correct tyre pressure? A couple of sites have said for standard 205/50/17 fitted to vRS 31 front and 37 rear and 32 front and 38 rear. I thought that front would have been higher due to engine and the rear less.

Looking around I have seen a few owners of Golf IV's running 36 front and 32 rear (which is what I have just set mine to.

Any help would be appreciated as I don't want anymore trouble with tyres. I am going to get Sessanta's fitted to the rear (hopefully next month) but regardless want to be running correct tyre pressures. I have read that lower profile tyres require higher pressures, and was worried that having the rear higher will result in a bouncy ride.

Cheers,

Darrren

The tyres should say on them the correct pressure needed

There isn't a "correct pressure", because these tyres were never OEM on this car (or anything else with the A4 floorpan I think).

If you look inside the filler flap, you should find a sticker giving the standard 205/55R17 pressures. Now you need to increase these for the lower profile, and reduce for the extra width (or is the other way around?). Either way, you finish up within 2PSI of the stock pressures, unless the Ultracs have a pressure charactoristic.

N7EJA's advice is just plain wrong; the pressure stated on the sidewall is the maximum cold pressure that the tyre should be run at ever.
