Failed MOT: Front brake Imbalance 30%

Featured Replies

:( Just failed my mot with a 30% front brake imbalance. Old ones also expired, so i won't be driving anywhere for a while

Advisories were also both inner front pads wearing thin, and inner brake discs worn.

This likely to be just a case of swapping discs and pads (the test centre thinks so) or something else :(

having a really bad weekend

Yes m8, when you change them make sure the carriers are cleaned i.e remove the rust....also use plenty of copper grease on the backs of the pads and aslo lubricate the sliders....Dont forget to pump the pedal before drivin off

HTH

Phil

could it not be a ceased caliper?

could it not be a ceased caliper?

As in a "deceased" caliper lol:rofl: Sorry....... "seized"

Phil

if it were a siezed caliper the imbalance would be 100%:o

i would whack a new set of discs and pads on

Being sorted tomorrow. Hopefully it'll pass this time as i'm now beyond skint with possibly a mangled strut mount too

Surely the perfect time to go up to 312's? ;)

Just outta interest.. how much have the discs + pads cost ya excluding fitting?

Keeping mine pretty much standard apart from suspension bushes as my wallet can't take the modifications lol was charged 180 all in. Was tempted to try myself but at short notice I can't afford to stuff up as it means more time off work.

No idea on individual costs sorry mate sat in mot test station on my jesus phone... Wish me luck
