Skoda build quality

Featured Replies

As I'm thinking about trading in my octavia I thought it would be a good idea to try and remove the large but shallow dent in my drivers door.

So off with the door card - thanks to info from this site - only to be greeted by the site of a pop riveted plate covering the whole of the inside of the door. So much for my idea of pushing out the dent from the inside.:(

I knew that there would be a downside to buying a car built as well as a Skoda!:)

I've had a small dent on the passenger door for two years now for just that reason. I checked up on here before hand and discovered the riveted plate problem before taking the door panel off.

Pop rivits are a **** of pee to drill out and a pop rivit tool is pretty inexpensive to buy aswell. Could be reasonably time consuming tho. Good luck.

Why don't you ring one of these specialists who are able to pull dents and scrapes with these suction pullers, normally they won't remove any trim and won't harm the paint.

I've got one of those chaps coming to see my car this week to try and take out a scratch that some mindless little sh1te has put in the rear passenger door of my car. He's from a national franchise, so when he's done it I'll let you know what I think..

Can you get access by removing exterior door lock blanking cover?

get one of those pdr guys out to it, normally they should be able to get to the dent via the door seal on the exterior negating trim removal. They do have other techniques such as removing grommets, or drilling holes and putting a gromet in place afterwards to gain access. The latter I have never fancied myself if keeping the car, but if flogging on who cares.

I used one of those dent-removal firms a while back on a Golf I had.

I had a dent on the edge of the roof, above the doors, looked like a plank had fallen on the car, and also had a dent on the rear wheel-arch. The car was silver so showed up every mark.

Guy came to my work in Leeds and did a FABULOUS job! Expected to see a bit of ripple left, especially on the roof dent, but nothing to see at all on the surface, except as has been said, a tiny grommet where he had to drill into the door jamb/frame below the dent to get access. But the hole was maybe 5mm in size and properly filled with a grommet, which was totally covered when the door was closed, and you wouldn't notice anyway as it looked original. The rear wheel arch was fixed by removing the wheel-arch plastic trim an inch or two and he got access from there. Only cost about £60 too. Took maybe 30 minutes! Give them a try.

One of my neighbours daughters 'guests' thought it would be fun to take a run at my wife's car jump on the bonnet and land on the roof putting a huge dent in it. We called out a guy who did work for the car dealership she works for and he manged to get the dent out for about £70 and you wouldn't know i had been there. He used some specialised tools which he inserted between the top of the door opening and headlining.

I hope you made her pay for it too.

Too right I did or rather it was a 'he' and my neighbour found out who it was and made them pay. To be fair his dad was not pleased with him and brought him round to apologise personally.
