New Rims and a bloody good clean!

Featured Replies

I haven't posted any pics of the Fabia since I fitted the Spiders at the end of July so after a damn good clean yesterday the camera came out.

The spiders are only the 16" version but i am really happy with them (as the turning down of some 17" has proven!!) :D

I've only just graduated up from cleaning a car with a sponge and fairy liquid but all these cleaning products and techniques do make a difference. Even if the products are only the ones picked up in Halfords 3 for 2!

Simoniz wash and wax shampoo applied with Kent car cleaning combined sponge

/noodle thing then dried with a generic waffle weave drying towel:

Simoniz brake dust repellent alloy cleaner scrubbed with alloy wheel brush (rather than a normal paint brush) and wiped down with a scabby sponge

the interior also got a clean as after 5 years the lovely light grey upholstery was looking VERY tired!!

Abersil Auto Groom foam spray was purchased in the Halfords 3 for 2 and i'd already done the back seats and was amazed with the results but the fronts were dis-gust-ing!

Seats weren't 100% dry until after it got dark last night and now the missus has commuted to work so "after" pics will follow later on, but based on the results in the back it'll be a fantastic turn around for £4.99 and half an hour of elbow grease

I like the rims, nice and tidy mate! Red looks best

Stop it! Your just showing me up! ;)

(haven't washed my car since.............. The National Rally, oh no, that's not strictly true.. I cleaned the bonnet about 3 weeks ago because of bird sh!t)

I'm a fan of the 16's as well!

good looking, waiting for the after pics of the inside, mine is poor, but nothing seems to work (yes i've done a search, but some products i've tried just leave a water mark!)

I've seen cleaner looking red cars ;)

Nah that's looking good mate, a decent result

waiting for the after pics of the inside

having done the rear seats, bench and head rests (how does the back of a rear headrest get dirty!) i'd say this stuff is amazing!! the fronts were really bad so may need another going over but shoudl be 100% improvement

I've seen cleaner looking red cars ;)

problem i have is that now its clean the paint chips, car park dings, and general exterior wear and tear seems to have multiplied!!

Yep, annoying when that happens isn't it?! The more you clean, the more you see

looks bloody good from a distance though

My car seems to have a few more stone chips than the norm (did 40k in it's first 2 years of life which explains it).. but I always get frustrated when I wax it and the wax settles in the chips making them look twice has bad! DOH!

On the interior cleaning front, my mechanic has a wet'n'dry Vax that brings them up a treat.. :)

I don't think i'd noticed mine as they were under a film of grime! :)

i wish when i'd hired a rugmaster to clean the carpets in my previous rented flat i'd taken the time to do the car at the same time - however i'm happy with the finish of the auto groom stuff

nice rims got the same on mine but 17" look good though

What a lovely church you have :)

And where was Beck whilst all this cleaning was going on? Doesn't she do the majority of the mileage!! Haha! The seats are a pig to keep clean, that's why I went for the leather in the end...

Looks all good on the Spiders though matey, just need to drop her down a bit now...

Apparently there was some urgent shopping to be done  gave me a couple of hours of peace with the car though! ;)

there still aren't 100% as there are a couple of stubborn water stains but i'm sure another quick going over would sort them out

They may not be show room fresh but I whole heartedly recommend the Autogroom if you can't wet/dry vac your seats!!!
