Spare wheel well full of water

Featured Replies

Hi folks, got into car this morning for work and thought.....mmm I smell damp, not good!

Had a look about and found the spare wheel well, well looking like a well, and not in a good way:thumbdwn:. Had about 6 to 8 inches of water in there and I've no idea how it got there.

Certianly there's been no shortage of rain here in Ayrshire but did not expect this.

Any ideas/suggestions out there to a possible source of the water ingress would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Take it back to the dealers, let them sort it out.

If I had to guess, and all doors and windows have been closed properly, I'd say the ventilation "flaps" in the sides of the luggage compartmen or their seals against the cars body..

Thanks for that, will have a wee look see.

And yes it most definately will go back to the dealer if it's not something simple.

Firstly it was the washer leaking into the drivers footwell now this, geginnig to think

a wet suit and a snorkle should come with these cars:D

It sounds like your particular car was badly put together. Something you won't experience if you buy a Yaris, Auris et al

i've noticed that gaps between the front pillars and the front panels are not all the same in different Fabia II's I've seen at the dealers

Could be that the rear washer hose has come off & leaking water in too the boot. Regards Jason.

To get that much water from the rear washer would be a hell of a lot of attempts to clean the screen

Valid point, But its something I've come across in the past, well worth checking. Regards Jason.

Thanks chaps. I've checked the washer only because I felt I had too despite it's working with no obvious deficiency.

As regards build quality, that was one of the reasons I went for a Skoda???

cheers

After a lovely rainy day today, checked the boot and found the spare wheel bathing in a nice pool.

The same happend one month ago, managed to get it completely dry; and not a huge amount of rainfall since... until today.

Did you find the source of leak?

Will have the 20k service soon, so sth else to get checked.
