Re map AGAIN

Featured Replies

I am just agonising over where to get my car re mapped. If I get it done at Superchips, you get a Bluefin unit that allows you to re install the map if the dealership re flashes your car's ecu when there is an update from VAG. As you know that will revert the car back to it's original state of tune.

P-Torque will re install it for free, but I don't like the idea of driving to Wolverhampton every time it happens. So this begs the question, and the real reason for my post-

How many times on average, do dealerships fanny about with your ecu in it's owner tenure?? ( 3-5 years)

So- £ 395 Superchips for a map that is more versatile, but not quite as powerful as Will's P -torque at £265. BUT, you get before and after dyno runs with your car with this guy.

This is the third time I have posted regarding this matter, so apologies for boring the nads off people.

Cheers

The Superchips option may be more versatile but of the two I'd definitely go to Will

Me too, since it would be more tailored to your car, rather than generic. And even if we didn't had (yet) business, Will proved to be really kind and professional.

Another vote for Will - totally transformed the car. I was keen on the idea of a switchable / re-installable map too, but the price ended up swinging it for me. ECU updates at the dealership are reasonably rare anyway. It depends on your dealers' attitude I guess.

I'm out of warranty now, so no big deal for me, but before that I just always said "no software updates, please" when I took it in. I still had warranty work done no problem but I guess I might have received a different response if they'd been drivetrain issues.

Every time my car goes in to the dealer they re-flash my software. I guess this is to zero fault codes and ensure the vehicle has the latest software installed. This is one of the reasons I went for the Bluefin! Also, agree with one of the comments above, it transforms the car. Driving today without the Bluefin it just felt flat with little throttle response.

As it happens, my car was re-flashed about 2 hours ago but more on that in another thread....

ATB, Jon.

Thanks guys, Had a chat with Shark_90 today and he gave me some good advice and went on to explode some tuning myths. For those of you considering a map, you should speak to him.

Very helpful chap.

Cheers
