4 Wheel Drive vRS coming soon?

Featured Replies

Hi all, new to the forum, be kind :D

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I've always wondered if Skoda would bring out a 4 wheel drive version of the Octavia vRS?

I noticed today on the top gear site that Volkswagen have said they're making a 4 wheel drive version of the Golf, the Golf R,and as we know the Octavia is based on the Golf.

Are we likely to see this come to the Octavia in the near future do you think, with uprated power too?

No. VW would never allow that.

Nearest you could get it to remap a 4x4 model which quite a few people did with the MK1 Octavia.

It would have to go 4x4 in the future if the power output keeps rising, you can only put so many horses through a front wheel drive car, something GM fail to understand totally in the Vecra VXR and the hot SAAB's

Also remember that the "new" FL Octavia is based on the old model Golf. The mk6 Golf and new Seat Leon FR gets a limited slip diff (XDS) so would the old chassis be suitable for a 4 x 4 system and be able to be coupled by something like XDS.

It's a strange world that a car as well respected as the vRS doesn't get a larger engine option but then would it become a rival for to many VAG in house brands. S4 for example

The 1.8TSi 4x4b comes with 160bhp so with a remap and some revised suspension and I reckon you'd be about there - only problem I can see is that the revised suspension for the 4x4 may not be easy to source at present.

No, no, no, no, no!

Hope this helps :)

Here you go. Dull dull dull.

Frankfurt motor show: VW Golf R - Autocar.co.uk

OP - the Seat Leon Cupra R will get the same engine but stay front wheel drive. The chassis has stayed exactly the same for all Golf based cars between 5 and 6, which is why they have all been facelifted in the last year (including the Golf, which is different because it's cheaper to build now). The XDS is simply advanced software not a proper diff.

The Yeti 4x4 has the CR 170 Engine I think (could be wrong). Closest you'll see a "hot 4x4" from Skoda. The other hot 4x4 is the Superb 3.6 V6 4x4. Shame the Scout is stuck at the 140.
