Can you get Octy sill plates/covers?

Featured Replies

Are alloy/polished sill plates available for the Octy II? Ideally I'd prefer some OEM one's if they were ever fitted?

As far as I know you can, you can find the part number in the Octavia accessories brochure, if it's still available to download.

I had them dealer fitted to mine when I got it over 4 years ago, but only the front are polished, back are just plain plastic.

SuperSkoda do some that they advertise as being OEM quality for €39.99 (a bit less in £'s) link here : Skoda Octavia II - door sill covers OCTAVIA - stainless steel - Octavia Tuning : Skoda Tuning = superskoda.com

They do look a bit short to me as they don't go the full length of the sill, particularly the rear ones. I might get some Ventureshield instead. 1 or two sheets should do it, Ive posted this link elswhere but I'll include it here too : http://www.invisiblepatterns.co.uk/top-of-rear-bumper-protection-film.html

(note in case anyone gets the wrong impression I don't have any connection with Ventureshield, I'm not promoting their products and have not so far used any)

They're not the proper one's though.

These are the proper ones: KDA600002.jpg

I have to say that the proper ones, as posted by Indiana Jones, do look better, cover more of the sill and are probably worth the extra cost.

It's a pity they don't fit them as standard as it should not increase the cost of the car by the price quoted in the options/accessories list and would make it more finished off.

As per the pic in post#7 do they come with the black plastic piece as well? (Or is it just the chrome bit you get?)

And do you get the rears in a set? If you get all 4 then I will get some ordered on Monday.

That I don't know, but for the price of £66 + fitting, I'd have thought it would be for a set of 4 plates, easiest thing to do is ring and ask.

I must admit I'm thinking of getting some of them myself, so I'd be interested to know what you find out.

I'd be interested too, do they screw on are are they self adhesive and how easy is it to fit them oneself.

(I don't wish to be picky but shouldn't the 2009 ones use the new 'OCTAVIA' text font ?)

Also wouldn't it be best to wait until the sills get scuffed and then fit them over the scratches ;-)

Thanks guys, I will get a set ordered on Monday morning.

simbo99 can you do some photos of your sill plates please!

TIA.

IJ.

Oops.

My guide dog will be having its bone taken away as punishment. :)

I've had a look on Ebay & found them for £30 for 4 delivered from the USA, so at 50% less than the official ones I've decided to take the plunge & buy them.

They look good; However if I don't like them when they arrive, then I'll sell them on.

I still prefer the proper ones but they look so good I wouldn't want to get them scuffed, can you buy protective covers for the covers ? :D

The one's in the picture are only shown for illustrative purposes, nothing more, so don't be surprised if they look completely different.

I bought sill covers when I bought my new car back in 2005. Pictures attached.

What neither I nor the dealer knew was that the car came with some sill covers - the front ones with the Laurin and Klement logo! The Skoda kit was merely a stick on set of plastics with a metal insert for "Octavia". 4 pieces per doorway. The lower front ones are still unused. From the scuffs that they have had they have certainly protected the paintwork a couple of times nad they look good. Easily touched up to look new.

The front covers were KDA 600 002 at £60 and the rear ones were plain plastic KDA 600 001 at £30. They were in the Skoda Octavia Original Accessories brochure. Looks like they have not gone up in price.

Picked up the KDA 600 002 set that I ordered on Monday, it's an 8 piece set that covers all sills. They are exactly like the picture in the accesories brochure.

With the old typeface or the new one?

I havent opened them yet but it looks like the new one.

Just picked up my new L&K. Comes with front sill covers, but NOT rear ones. Feels like penny pinching. The dealer tells me I cannot buy rear sill covers on their own, so if I want to protect the rear sills I have to buy a full set of 8 covers!

Now that's interesting as just like

L&K. Comes with front sill covers, but NOT rear ones.
so my Scout only came with front ones fitted...

I feel a telephone call to the parts department coming ;)

Carefully pointed out my contradicting posts about availability of rear sill covers alone

You are right. The rear sill covers were in the old accessories brochure but the dealer says are not available! (I'm a sad g*t and have the pdf of the 04/06 brochure still on my computer!) There is no current brochure available to download so I have emailed Skoda for one to be made available. Hopefully they are still there.
