BIG Brakes...

Featured Replies

I've been reading up on various big brake options for the Octavia in old threads, Porsche/Jag, BMW/Lambo and the R32 conversion.

What I was wondering though is there any kit out there that could be classed as a BIG brake kit?

Obviously the car will stop alot better with one of these kits but they wont look much better than the standard vRS kit.

Call me a tart but the standard discs are looking a bit weedy behind my 18"s, I'd like to fill the wheels up a bit better.

Cheers :D

Compbrake

There's a thread on here somewhere, and quite reasonably priced.

If only someone made an adaptor to fit a bigger discs with the standard calipers. It would suit the sad, vein, ****s like me :D

Am sure you could get some made to fit the leon cupra r dics which are appro 323mm, however its not the increase in disc size that makes the drastic difference (though it helps) its the increase from the single pot (1 piston) standard calipers to 4 piston calipers or better still like the comp brakes 6 pistons as this increases the brake efficiency.

I have played around with a few brake setups now and considered the r32 (2 piston) however this is heavy and very expensive to replace discs. The kit i played around with using brembos from another oe car, left the car with massive pedal travel so were not great.

I was lucky enough to get a second hand brembo gt which im painting as we speak, however if i had to buy new the comp brake kit is by far the best kit out there i have found for the money!

Cheers for the imput mate, I need to look into these compbrakes I think.

I've seen a kit to fit larger rear discs through DaveB so that's easily sorted.

Just gotta make my mind up on the front kit now
