adjusting boost

Featured Replies

hi when upping the boost should the open threaded end of the bar be getting longer or shorter? ive done this on loads of turbo cars but the one on the VRS is different

Don't forget the 1.8T has dynamic wastegate control, so the ECU is going to hate you fiddling with the actuator spring pre-load. I wouldn't be surprised if it drops into limp mode, and tells you there is a fault with the N75 or actuator.

Back in the day of passive control you could could crank on the pre-load till your hearts content, or till the turbo oversped and ate itself! The correct way to get more boost now is to get a re-map, which changes the peak boost threshold.

I'm fairly sure that if the M.A.P. sensor reads much more than 10psi on the standard map, it's going to think something's wrong and cut the power.

should get shorter but on a vrs you will only cause problems due to the actuator setup buddy.
