140 PD remap v 170CR

Featured Replies

Been thinking of a remap on my 140PD, supposed to get 166 BHP & 360Nm torque (10 Nm more than the 170CR!) the performance between the two should be about the same.

My questiion is can I expect this? have heard that the DPF can effect perfomance and the gearbox is limited to 350 Nm !, so is it all hype and are they reliable?

If anyone has done this remap would appreciate some feedback.

Burial, do you have DSG transmission? If not, you are not restricted to 350 Nm. Even if (you have DSG) here, in Poland we learn that doing TDI chiptuning with DSG transmission you can safely try 380-390 Nm. The only clue is not to put to many Nm on low revs like 1500-2000.

After remap you should expect even better performance than 170 CR with bigger punch on low revs. Performance will be better because gearbox after remap will be "shorten" than remaped performance of the engine can deliver.

No have a 6 speed manual will this be effected? I love the gear box except for first gear which seems to high just fancy a bit more power!

With 6 speed manual ? - you should expect zero problems. But use remapped engine wisely - don't push it much on low revs - use gearbox and accelerator instead accelerator only. Have fun :)

This might be my problem as I drive 1500-2500 and love the torque, seems like my driving whould have to change back to a petrol type way of driving (due to lack of torque in a petrol engine compared to a diesel).

I also have a 1800 cc 16v 128 BHP petrol car but it seems very "under powered" compared to the Skoda 140 PD and 105PD come to that!

After the dpf problems and other faults we had with our standard Octy VRS (PD170) there is no way i will be remapping my Superb for a good while yet

Where all these faults due to a remap?

Where all these faults due to a remap?

No but they were fixed under warranty if the car had been remapped i wouldnt think they would be so keen to sort out a problem like that.

Secondly the dealer has at one point altered the map or certainly some part of how the car is mapped on the Octy as it behaves very differently than it did originally*, this was done as part of a recall

Thirdly there has been reports of premature turbo failure on many VAG models again something i dont want to have to foot the bill for

Many companies will tell you their mapping is fully guaranteed and warranted for any mishaps but I personally dont want to be in the position where Skoda "could" reject a warranty claim due to remap and the mappers not accept liability as they feel their map didnt cause it .

I'm certainly not against mapping as both my previous cars were remapped but not on a model this new , I'd prefer to let the bugs work out of the system first

*its smoother and less violent than it was
