Winter Wheels

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone......New on here so please bare with me. Sold my Vrs 6months ago for something more practical for the fishing tackle...now have Fabia Estate 1.9tdi Elegance..current tyres are 185/60/14 on stock alloys. I've been offered some Golf mk4 steel wheels with new tyres 175/80/14...does anyone know if these would be ok as winter wheels?? Grateful for any advice....thanks in advance

I have just worked out the difference on a tyre calculator Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tire Bible Page 2 of 2 and those new tyres will be way too big (58mm in diameter). This will give you a bit more ground clearance, but your speedo and odometer will be massively out.

There are plenty of winter or all-season tyres in 185/60, if not 175/65 14 would do.
