Will 9 x 19 et 45 fit on a lowered Vrs ?

Featured Replies

My wife's Touran is running on a set of RS6 (latest style) replicas which are (5 x 112) 9 x 19 et 45 with 235 / 35 / 19's.

She's scuffed a front wheel and is now paranoid about wrecking them so is saying she wants me to take them off and sell them as she's worried I'll be mad if she wrecks them! (which I will )

Anyway, I'm considering having them powdercoated in matt black and putting them on my Silver Vrs (rapidly going off selling the car now) which I think would look excellent.

Anyone know if they'll fit and if I'll have any rubbing issues if I lower the car by about 40mm ?

Many thanks.

Yes, and no.

Probably!

You have a very high post count........

How many of your others added such insight and clarity :D

Wheel Offset Calculator says you'll have 13mm less space on the inside and extend by 25mm on the outside.

You're going to be rubbing big time. The rears will look great but the fronts will look daft, they'll be sticking out so much.

Not many!

I'd go with it, but with slightly reduced sized tyres. Might rub on the front still...

Guess you could try it with stretched 225/35/r19s. That's going to be quite a stretch for every day use though imo. Good luck! :D

Some guys are driving 8.5"x19 ET48 (the speedline Audi wheels) These will fit. Still have to alter some minor things in the rear wheel arch.

As the 9" are sticking out 6mm more and because of the ET the wheels will stick out an extra 8mm there will be a difference of 14mm to the outside. On the inside the wheel will have 2mm more space compared to the speedlines, mentioned above.

That will give you a bit of troubles getting the wheel fit without scrubbing.

225/35 is hardly stretched at all!:

Hmm, this has all got me wondering about my plans to put 20mm spacers on the rear and 15mm spacers on the front of mine. I've been out with a ruler and I'm thinking maybe 10mm would be a better bet on the front when I've got the coilovers on. Still, I'm pretty confident about the 20s on the back.

EDIT - There again, if you look at the 15mm spacers with 8J wheels / 235 tyres on the front of shark90's, it looks like I might get away with it as I'll be ~7mm further in than that setup.

Yeah but by God you'd need to avoid kerbs at all costs!!

Seriously I used to run 205/45/17#s on a Punto with 7x17 and even with "Rim Protectors" (a necessary extra down here in Brighton!) I smashed the crap out of the rims over the space fo four years!

Not worth the aggro IMHO and lets be honest, with wheels that big it will handle like crap. Depends if you'r into posing or driving

7 inches = 177.8 millimetres

So... the tyre was wider than the wheel, anyway?

thanks for all the replies, but as I don't want to buy new tyres this all looks like a bit too much hassle :(
