Fault code 16685 - misfire on cylinder 1...

Featured Replies

Please help, my sis has a '04 Fabia 1.2 12v, as soon as it's warm when she tries to pull off the engine drops onto 2 cylinders and threatens to stall (or does!).

The prob started 2 mths ago as occasional but then got more and more regular until now when it happens all the time, irrespective of gradient, weather conditions, petrol station used or load.

We've had it at the local garage and they've ran a diagnostic which resulted in the above fault code, they replaced the pencil coil on number one which failed to solve.

They then swapped the injector from number 1 to number 2 and the diagnosed problem moved to number 2 - the garage then changed the injector but this has not solved the prob either...They've now ran out of ideas :-(

The engine management light now will not go out but as soon as you're out of 1st gear drives fine...

I need some Skoda Tech knowhow!!!

Cheers,

Ian

The coil pack was the first thing that the garage tried, unfortunately it didn't solve the issue...

Next step would be to swap all the coilpacks out, reset all the codes and see what happens...

the problem only ever appears on number 1 though...(Except when they swapped the injectors around)

Can you get a cylinder leakage test done on all 3 cylinders. These are prone to cat problems which causes an increase in exhaust back pressure. This in turn causes premature valve guide and seat wear. A compression test does not always show anything but cylinder leakage will.
