Engine Question

Featured Replies

I apparently have a glow plug fault on cylinder 2 (see this thread Any idea on this fault code. - BRISKODA - The Skoda Forums) .

As I look at the engine would that be the glow plug 1 in from the left. i.e. are they simply numbered 1-4 from left to right? Maybe that would be too simple.

Thanks.

Number 1 is always from the cambelt end.. so yes, from left to right as you look at the engine, 1-2-3-4

Are you sure it's glow plug fault?

Is it a orange glow plug light on your dash?

If Yes, then check your brake light switch.

Not easy to fit (tricky, and you've got only one shot).

It's the orange engine light on the dash. Brake lights are fine and a scan has suggested it's either the glow plug or the wiring. It came on a few weeks back and was diagnosed by the dealer and plug 3 was replaced. (I actually asked if I should replace all 4 as after all they've been in the car the same amount of time and was assured that they don't go often and it wouldn't be necessary)

When you say that "its" not easy and "you've only got one shot" to fit it, are you referring to the glow plug, or the brake light. Is the glow plug not a simple screw out, screw in job, once the appropriate wiring has been removed?

I'm now starting to wonder if it's a coincidence that I've had 2 glow plug faults since the cam belt was changed 6 weeks ago; a job which requires the removal of said glow plugs........ Hmmmmmm.

Yes. Glow plug 1 is the one on the cambelt side. Simly just pull the plug out, put power and earth and see if it glows :)

Good luck

true for your engine but is not always the case, there are a number of engines that count the cylinders 1-4 from the gearbox end, just so you don't assume in future
