I think it's only 50 quid if it's ordered as a factory option. I'm sure I read on here somewhere that the dealers are charging 130 quid as a dealer option.

I havent recieved my car to see but can I fit it directly to my boot floor i.e is there a hole for it even if it didnt have a spare wheel originally... if that makes sense...

There will be awell for it, but if not factory-fitted, there will be honking great lump of polystyrene and a can of tyre weld.

The cost of a dealer fit should include jack, brace, locking nut and bolt cover remover.

I made the mistake of not ordering a steel spare when I ordered the car, so I resorted to Ebay, I found a brand new steel spare & Bridgestone tyre for £42, in nearby Farnham, I've found a wheel tie down on Ebay for £14 delivered.

As for the wheel brace & jack toolkit, there's one on Ebay for £55 delivered, but I don't know how complete it is, so rather than take the chance, I ordered one from the dealer for £57.50, that way I know it's complete.

I didn't order one on my VRS but the car had a proper steel spare in the boot. Maybe I got lucky.

My dealer quoted £150 as a dealer option.

My dealer quoted £150 as a dealer option.

Mine quoted £170. I don't think that includes the jack. Not sure if the jack and hold-down is included in the factory fitted option, presumably it is, but maybe the mousse and inflator are omitted.

I'm going to write to the dealer suggesting he (they) get a 'spare wheel' package together, to provide an equivalent to the factory fitted option for those, who because of the current state of the scrappage, 'vat free' and reversion to 17.5% deals, were disuaded from waiting for the factory option, which eventually could increase the total cost well over the originally quoted £40-50.

I'm sure if 'spare wheel' kits are imported by dealers in bulk, the price could be much lower than individual customers assembling the 'kit' from dealer spares ad hoc. It would also be good for business. I know for some folks lack of a spare wheel as 'standard', let alone factory fitted option, is deal breaker.
