Feeling privileged

Featured Replies

Well today my ventilation fan packed up:thumbdwn:

Currently all or nothing:mad:

Added to the leaky back doors & the Xenon with cataracts.

A trip to the dealers is on the cards!

Think I'll enquire about cruise while I'm there:rolleyes:

The fan speed thing is just a small resistor pack that sits above/behind the radio area and can be accessed I think by removing the glovebox and squeezing a hand up behind there. The resistor has a sticky out bit (love my techie terms? ;)) for speeds 1,2,3 & 4 and it's usually 1 that packs up, then 2 shortly after and finally 3. Usually speed 4 does not break as I guess that is "full open" circuit. :) New resistor is quite cheap.

Back doors is a sealing up job - I think there is a guide on here?

Xenons, no idea. :o

Cheers Jason, But I've still got a three months left on the warranty, So we;ll see what they say.

I've had a couple of issues in the past and my supplying dealer has been excellent:thumbup:

The fan definitely sounds like the resistor has gone, but as Devonutopia says it's a PITA to get to.

Did my doors today, following this guide, and when I got the door cards off (15 mins for the first one, and 2 mins for the second - it's always so much easier the second time round!) there was clear water staining from where it had been seeping out from the bottom of the carrier.

As you're still in warranty get them to do it with the fixing kit (the part number is in that guide)

You should also check this guide out for retro fittting cruise, as I've seen Jorily has OEM cruise stalks going for £25, and the VW loom, connector and wires can't be that much.

I think Awesome quote about £150 for retro-fitting the cruise
