"Clicking" Felicia Steering Wheel/Column

Featured Replies

My son's recently acquired Felicia 1.6GLXi has just developed a loud "Clicking" sound from the column/housing when the steering wheel is turned anti-clockwise :(

Turning the wheel clockwise does not have the same problem

Is this a "known problem" and, if so, is there a DIY and inexpensive fix available?

Given that the car is a "V" plate and only cost a few hundred pounds (and add in the fact he's young and broke!) I'm not sure it warrants, or he can stand, the cost of an official dealer investigation/rectification.

TIA

Rob

the universal joint on the steering column might be getting a bit worn out.... no an easy job for a novice to be honest

ooh thinking about it again... it may be a dodgey airbag slip ring... anybody's guess really

indicator stalk ?

Thanks for the answers, guys, I sense a potentially expensive visit to a garage is in order.

I'm thinking universal joint or indicator switch myself; ISTR the Felly airbag power uses a "clock wire" rather than slip rings.

The indicator switch can be ignored unless/until it breaks or funds permit. The UJ needs doing soonest, but any local garage should be able to cope; it doesn't need a main stealer.
