It's the holy grail of VAG owners....

I did mine a while back but didn't liked the look of the tail lights with the led bulbs. I used resistors for the dash warnings.

It' a complicated process. You need 5 resistors for each tail lamp.

Could the bulb warning be switched off useing vag com?????

I'm still trying in vain (but as Gadget says its the bloody holy grail at the mo) to get rear LED's

I don't think you can turn off the BFW. I've never seen it and yes i have looked

VAG must allow it as the Passat used to have Rear LED lights (not sure if the current one does) so there must be a way of doing it.

I have seen an option for coding the vehicle for specialist roles (one of which was the Fuhrer) and as some of them incorporate LED lighting im wondering if that can have something to do with it.

The resistors were proberbly built into the cluster.

I dont think LEDs would works to well at the rear, where a more scattered beam is required to fully light the cluster, rather than have a centralised dot(s) where the bulb is. This is why OEM led light clusters have a large number of bulbs that cover the whole surface.

They have the 360 degree LED bulbs now though that incorporate about 18-24 Wide angle superbrite LED's so im sure it could work

The resistor in the cluster would make sense or just programming of the ECU to only supply the low voltage required
