Apologies if this has been asked before but couldn't find it so here goes. Attempting to fit a new head unit in mk1 Octavia and am really struggling to get the new unit in because of the amount of cables at the rear. How do you remove the glove box to aid cable routing?

Sorry to Hijack, how did you remove HU? Have you got keys or did you just pull!?

open the glove box and there are about 5 screws (2 at the top and 3 at the bottom) remove these and pull it forwards and remember to release the wires for the light on the right hand side.

DJM123 - you can remove the HU by using a junior hacksaw blade cut in half, push the two pieces into the thin slots on the HU and then carefully pull the HU out.

Purchased removal keys on eBay then discovered not suitable for Symphony HU so cut 2 strips from an old plastic ID card (width of the slots). These worked fine but had to remove trim from around HU, climate control, etc, in order to pull the old unit out.
