Different Nuts for Steelies or Alloys??

Are there different nuts required for alloys or can I use the ones from my steel wheels? Just picked up some Solids this morning but they didn't come with nuts.

I know on Fords that you have to use different ones as they will rust otherwise. Is that the same for all cars?

Yes Ford if I remember correctly liked to use nuts/bolts with retained free-running shaped washers for use with alloys - in fact I think that Ford still expect folk to be smart enough to use the "other" nuts/bolts if they need to use the steel spare on a car factory fitted with alloys - this might also have been a "length" issue. Getting back to what VAG expect you to do, as far as VW and Seat are concerned, the alloy wheels use the same bolts as steel wheels - well that is the case with my Passat B5, wife's Polo 9N and daughter's Ibiza 6K - all factory supplied with alloys and having a full sized steel spare.

You may find that the flange taper is different too.
