Glaze for Race Blue

Featured Replies

Any advice on a glaze that's good for Race Blue? Will be applied by hand and want to avoid abrasives. Will be keeping my fingers crossed and claying  and finally applying Collinite 915.

Thanks

I work in a body shop and we use carbrite black pearl and its great stuff it leavs a really deep gloss

Wouldn't bother with the Glaze stage IMO...going from something like Autoglym Super Resin polish to 915 should see you perfectly well.

Glazes (Megs #7) for example, only add a little something extra to single stage painted cars (think older red vauxhalls and the like) as it acts almost like a moisturiser does to your skin. 99% of newer cars are obviously lacquered which stops the Glaze being absorbed so to speak.

I might consider a sealant after the polish; something like Jeff's Prime or Klasse All-in-One.

I know what you mean about modern paint finishes, but I used Poorboy's Black Hole glaze on my Black Magic Fabia and did notice a distinct difference adding that stage into the detail - gave a noticeable depth to the finish. So I'd say it can work in some circumstances, but not all.

I used Black Hole on my Black Magic vRS as well and liked it. Thought it would be too dark for the Race Blue.

I'd be minded to agree. May be worth carrying it out on a panel or section though, to assess?

Klasse All In One is a non abrasive polish - Klasse Sealant Glaze obviously being the glaze.

The Klasse twins are very good - not only on paintwork but alloys as well. The sealant glaze plus easy & quick top ups with the compatible Sonus Acrylic Glanz gives great results with both shine & durability. On wheels the Klasse/Sonus treatment is a rival for Jetseal 109.

You're right, but it also has sealing properties as well.
