Need Rapid 130 advice

Featured Replies

I have a 1985 Rapid 130. It is the only known of its type currently in the USA, along with my 120L and 1203 Van. I bought the Rapid in decent, solid shape but non-running. I have done extensive repairs and drove it for the fist time yesterday. The car has been sitting for probably ten years until yesterday. Although the motor runs beautifully, the transaxle is noisy and shifting difficult. I had to refill, overhaul and bleed the dry hydraulics, and will readily admit it requires a better bleed job, which I will attend to next, as it may easily affect the shifting and clutch. I will also replace the shift shaft seal and boot in the "front" of the transaxle, as it does leak. However, the initial drive has displayed a noisy running gear, a reluctance to go into second and popping out of reverse. I was also informed by my Czech friends and relatives that this particulat five-speed transaxle setup has no parts availability ANYWHERE, including the Czech Republic. Can any Skoda Rapid experts offer an opinion... believe me, all useful comments are welcome!

You need to speak with one of the site sponsors Jorily for obtaining new parts. I also have a reasonably extensive stock of used parts for 105/120/130/135/136 range..

For technical advise you need to be posting in the forum below:

It does sound very much like your gearbox has seen better days. It's worth checking the quantity and quality of the gearbox oil. Do you know how to do this? If not, post in the forum I mentioned earlier and I'll explain! It would also seem that your gear change mechanism is siezed/sticky.

:cool:Good on you for persevering with a very special and now rare selection of cars!
