Anti roll bar on 2001 1.4 16v Combi - what thickness?

Featured Replies

Was bored and looking on fleabay and came across these VRS anti roll bars

Would this be an easy (and cheap - don't want to spend a load) way of helping with the body roll, or are they the same dia as those fitted?

I've done a search, and after trawling through mountains of posts regarding upgrading VRS anti roll bars to Eibach and other versions I couldn't find any help.

I'm guessing I will get away with powerflex bushes for the VRS to fit it, as the mountings for the bushes should be the same, but I might be completely wrong:confused:

I'm planning on fitting a seat front strut brace, whiteline RARB, cupra console bushes and powerflex bushes as well - but spending some cash on the interior at the moment, so will go on a wish list for the mo, but still good to know.

Grateful for any help:thumbup:

Dunno if a vRS one will fit or not (different shaped engine?) but I think it's 18mm as standard. But I think that the 2mm difference will equate to a big difference in terms of stiffness if a post/maths I saw on here is correct. If your out to remove body roll I think a RARB would do a much better job as there is nothing there already.

Thanks Trigger Fish

I will go for the RARB, but I figured if I am going to be dismantling the suspension to fit the cupra console bushes and poly bushes, then I might as well go for the works if I am at it, so that I don't have to pay for a four wheel alignment more than once.

The problem is I am used to driving my now departed to pastures new 2.0 FSi Audi A3 with full sports pack, and it went round corners like it was on rails. I'm strugglig to get used to the wobbly body roll on the Fabia (I can live with the reduction power, so long as I can still go round corners), but don't want to spend a fortune.

I think the wishbones are a different shape on the VRS due to the different engine, but trawling around on here and looking at the pics of other peoples suspension, it looks like the anti roll bar should fit with the petrol wishbones. I might well be wrong on that though.
