hi guys, just got myself an oktavia tdi ambience as a cheap run around after running a passat 1.8t running 200bhp,

bit of a step down in power but im well happy with the skoda and its more suitable for using for work as its an estate

first question is how do i find out which engine ive got? i take it there wil be a code somewhere? been told it will have brass pipes coming from the injectors if its a non pd

also got to recommend ukpassats.co.uk to anybody who also runs a passat on here been a really helpful forum for 4yrs

if there is a better place to post this on here could you let me know, cheers for reading

Easiest way is by the badge on the boot.

If all the letters are black then I think its the 90bhp engine.

If the t is red its the 110 bhp engine.

if the t and the d are red its the 130 bhp engine. (Very unlinkely to be this on an ambiente) Also the 130 has a six speed manual box whereas the 110 & 90 are 5 speed gear boxes.

110 & 130 engines are both PD.

An Ambiante TDi is most likely a 90, but some late ones had the 130, and can be easily recognised by the 6-speed gearbox.

look in the boot for the white info sticker, it will state the power of the engine in kw, simply multiply this by 1.352 to give the figure in bhp! 90bhp will be 66kw, and 110bhp 81kw. as ken says, in ambiente trim its most likely the 90bhp engine
