New Server in work

Featured Replies

These things excite me, sad i know!!

Have been going on at work to get a new server for the last year and finally got it the other day. Only part way through setting it up, it doesn't half shift!

Will only have 17 users connected at one time and they won't be doing too much so should do i think!

See attached image :D

I did try and accidentally put it in the boot of my car, if it wasn't for the fact it weighs a bloody ton i'd have got it home lol

Erm, I guess i shouldn't tell you I've just binned a board, RAM and CPU's needed to build one of those then.

There are words for people like you!

Next time there is anything like that laying around.......just send them my way

To be fair it wasn't mine to do anything with other than what i was told, and was from a server I had stripped out to put something much newer in for testing work.

Call that a server? *This* is a server ;)

That's a knife. :)

I'd have put a picture of an M9000, but the E25k looks nicer. Plus it's called a StarCat, which is ace.

No that's a Z series mainframe. That is probably a whole **** load of servers capability in one handy sized, branded box ;)

Avg :(

I have just set this one up,

Very simillar, Faster CPU than yours but less RAM and only Server 2003 R2.

No, it's a zSeries *server*. Capability is irrelevant - it's a pool of CPU, RAM and disc (and various other clever I/O) that can be carved into as few or as many LPARs as you'd like. Much like any other server ;)
