My Fabia saves me money....

Featured Replies

Every time I drive my Vrs, it saves me a couple of grand.

How you may ask well, it still astounds me to such an extent, I change my mind about buying a different car.

Its got just the right amount of space, its got loads of torque, it shifts when I need it too, looks quality, and handles well, and cheap to run.

Everything I need....

But out of interest....what would you buy after your VRS, I cant find anything that ticks all the boxes...Budget 10K, Diesel or Petrol.

Any ideas

Cheers

Jimmy

i couldnt agree more to be honest. its a top little hatch for an allrounder. impresses all its passengers too. id have a look at the facelift octavia vrs cr170 (when around 10K)

Good plan, was looking at them too.

handles well

i agree with pretty much everything you said apart from this lol, what cars have you driven before, my previous 2 clio's out handle my vrs by a looooong way

Kia maybe, (get ready to be shot down) I do like the ProCeed 2.0 CRDi Sport and comes with 7 years warranty. Not sure if thats the way I will go but I must admit its tempting,

LOL fair enough, for every day road use, not on about track etc. I drive the car within its limits, so handles well enough for me, for, a diesel.

As for previous cars, Clio DCi100, Alfa 145 Cloverleaf, Ibiza 1.9tdi 100. Yaris Tsport, 106 GTI,

I drove one, and they are a great ownership prospect - but not that exciting.

I'm saving up for a second car to sratch the itch (missing petrol engine sooooo much) - narrowed it down to MX5, MR2, S1/ S2 Elise, 2.2 VX220, S2000, FRP.....etc.

Does not handle well!

Does not handle well!

It's all relative - i think it does ok for what it is i mean it'll understeer but it doesn't hugely massively end up in a hedge understeer.

OP suprised that you reckon it handle after a 106 GTi though!!

replacement - think Renault Sport Megane either the 225 petrol or the 180 diesel

It handles well in the right hands Andrew... ;)

I was referring the OP's inference that it was on par with a 106GTI

Now that I'm not really doing enough miles to justify a diesel the only thing I really fancy next is a Mk5 Golf GTi, but prices keep going up!

Now I certainly was not suggesting that, cause its no where near.

But as said above it handles well enough for what I need, for a car of its weight and size it handles well.

Had not considered the Renault Sport.....but I will now!

Cheers for all the ideas

Not out yet..... but keeping it close to home, the skoda concept car, the joyster if its reasonably priced and offers something similar to the vrs - even if its a midler tdi, or maybe the petrol tsi.

There are fair alternatives (seat, etc) but I'm happy with the vRS still and holding out for this. Even then I won't lose the vRS - just pass down to the missus and get rid or p/ex or scrappage on our older (fabia 1.4).

The fact its not out yet is probably just as well. If its timed to perfection then I can tap into scrappage on the 1.4Mpi which aint far down the line now, only 2012 :o) Or probably not as they have it dated 2000 and earlier

Leon Cupra R - I love them.....then I'd sell it after a week 'cause I couldn't afford to run it....
