Karcher Hose: Replacement or Extension?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I was thinking about getting an extension hose for my Karcher, 6m seems to be the main one available although you can get 10m+ on eBay, although they aren't Karcher ones (they claim to be better in many cases).

I've also noticed you can get replacement hoses, usually around 10m+, which would obviously replace the current hose rather than extend it.

What do you all think would be the better route? Getting an extension hose would be more effective in cost/length terms, but would have an extra joint on the high pressure hose be more trouble than it's worth, and would a simple replacement hose (of adequate but lesser length) be a better bet in the long term?

Regards,

Richard.

I bought one of these 10m industrial quality hoses from this seller over a year ago, they are proper industrial hoses, so although they ideally need to be removed from the pressure washer each time (as they are quite heavy hoses) they are top quality and will never kink (unlike the Karcher hose, which IMO is crap).

The 10m length is long enough to get round 3/4 of the Superb and all of a MK5 Golf.

HTH.

That's great, thanks!

Why did you choose one of these and not an extension hose?

Why does being heavier mean you have to disconnect from the pressure washer after use?

How do you find the 90-degreee bend at the machine end, helpful? I would imagine it would make wrapping the hose around the machine (which is what I often do for storage) easier, but is this hose as flexible as the OEM hose?

10m would be fine for me, the standard 6m hose is not very far short of what I need, annoyingly

My std hose had already begun to kink (it was a couple of months old at the time) so i wanted to change the lot to something that would not kink and i have used the industrial hoses before for years at work.

Simply for ease of moving it around, my Karcher is pretty big anyway, the first time i wrapped it around the machine but found it a bit cumbersome for storage, it takes a few seconds to remove the hose on my Karcher, if i had a smaller machine then i would probably leave it connected

On my Karcher the hose fitting is inside the housing (simply lift out the storage 'tray' to access the fitting) so the bend is essential, this i would imagine would be beneficial for all machines though for the reason you mention, i have noticed that some of the hoses he sells for different Karcher machines do have a straight fitting.

The hose is stiffer (therefore a lot stronger) than the OE hose, but i can still wind it up to around 14" diameter easily (it actually 'lives' in the inside of a 15 alloy wheel and tyre).

That's great, thanks for the help!

I also purchased a new longer off eBay as 6m is never enough, also found the newer hose a little easier to work with, not as tough...........

(I purchased mine from a different seller, one that was recommended off DW)

I've ordered a 10m replacement hose from the recommended supplier on eBay. 10m would be fine, 6m just isn't quite long enough to go around the car without having to move the pressure washer about. 10m is fine though

Who is the seller and would you recommend them?

Who is the seller and would you recommend them?

Had a look through my previous purchases on Ebay and it's that long ago, I can't find the seller, been on DW and I have looked for the thread but again, can't find it...........:thumbdwn:

Sorry guys, will have to keep my mouth shut and say go with 'Directhose' as they have had a few people on DW buying them with good reviews........

I've had a look through my enay as per Baker21 - i used the same guy he recommended.

Can't find his details though - so go with the DW link i guess.

Definitely go for 10m+ and you won't regret it whatsoever.

Cheers.
