Trojan nightmare

Featured Replies

Dad and I have just spent 6 hours working on removing a trojan from his pc. Quite an innocent email kicked it all off - one of these greeting cards which he thought was from his sister!:rolleyes:

It put Trojan Agent Rootkit DI on his pc - on the ndis.sys file in windows\system32\drivers\ndis.sys

After following this thread - we solved it! Spent the whole evening on it - and missed going to have a game of badminton at the group my dad runs. :thumbdwn:

There are some pretty clever ones out there nowadays, even with the best software and methods it can still take a good few hours to fix.

It's a lot easier to just format and start again in some cases, but most of the time for home users this can be more hassle than it's worth.

Oh man, from the thread title I thought you'd shredded your rubber.

Just a heads up, I got banned for a week for posting humours posts in the tech thread and that was with the OP’s consent (he joined in………..well it was just 2 days before Christmas).

Pleased the Trojan is fixed. I have been lucky so far and never received one, but I currently use Norton 360 V3.0 which doesn’t slow down my PC anything like as much as the older versions.
