Advice please

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'm after a little advice please, I've been reading on here and DetailingWorld for a while now, and have come a long from using a sponge in a single bucket of fairy, followed by chamoise...:o I'm now using a wash mitt (will be getting MF wash mitt next) and 2 buckets, with Megs car shampoo followed by drying with MF, much better results already :). Will use Megs QD next time I dry to see how that goes.

Washed and clayed the car last week, and put a quick coat of Megs Tech 2.0 wax on. Washed again tonight and this time used some AG SRP. Should I be adding a layer of Megs tech 2.0 wax over the top of the SRP? Or should I buy some AG EGP ?

Thanks

After a clay and wash, the next steps are paint cleaner and conditioner, followed by last stage product (LSP) This can be either a wax or sealant, or sealant followed by a wax.

AG SRP is a brilliant paint conditioner, and can be followed by AG EGP which is very durable, but can be tricky to apply thinly enough. It also has a long cure time of 30 to 60 minutes, not a problem if working under cover, but can be if working outside in the Great British weather. I use AG SRP followed by AG EGP, then a coat of NXT 2.0 Tech Wax the next day.

You could also consider AG Ultra Deep Shine, which is an all in one product. However, it's a lot of hard work unless you apply it with a DA. BY hand it's hard work buffing it off.

So AG UDS means you do two steps all in one go.

I find the best way to apply AG EGP is with a Halfords Disposable lint free white cloth. I fold these to a 3 inch wide strip, similar to a paint brush, and just wipe the EGP over the panels, as though I was painting on a varnish. Biggest mistake is to apply pressure when using EGP, as the solvents will remove previous product.

EGP will not remove SRP, but it will remove just about anything else, so should only be used on top of SRP for that reason.

If I were you I would invest in some FK1000P or some Collinite 476s for the winter months as NXT 2.0 is not as durable and you will need to re-apply regularly whereas the other's will protect your paint work for months..........

Both are nice and cheap.........
