Anyone got Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising?

Featured Replies

Ordered it from "the hut" yesterday for £29, currently also in asda for £27 apparently... :)

Once I find time to actually play it, does anyone fancy some coop play?

I've thought about getting it but I still spend too much time on COD4 to make it worth getting another military shooter and MW2 is only round the corner!

Is it actually OpFP2? Or a "prologue" style thing?

Have been playing this for a little while with a view to it replacing something on one of our gaming servers.

( probably cod5 if anything )

Completely different game type to COD4. Maps are HUGE , vehicles needed on most to get around. Very tactical , stealth etc is key. Teamwork very important.

Graphically not really a step forward , but runs nice enough.

Thought it was terrible, bad AI, awkward controls, clunky graphics... not a patch on the original :thumdwn:

I completely disagree. It isn't great fun alone but if you go coop with people you know the intelligence of the enemy AI is great and a mission will never play out the same way twice - everything feels more natural than most FPS games! Controls on xbox are cool apart from issuing orders where you have to hold RB but I soon got used to that. Graphics I thought looked awesome too especially given the draw distance etc. It's not quite Call of Duty but I don't think it is trying to be!

And I completely disagree, I think it is trying to be CoD, and fails miserably at it!

I had the original "OpFlash" on PC with all the addon packs.

Probably one of the best games I have ever played.

Even when you completed the main game, there was so much user generated content around it was staggering. Fantastic game.

I've seen the new one, and I am tempted... but afraid it will be a let down.

I played it again some more last night, after tweaking the controls.

It's still too damned console-oriented :(

I would be getting it on PS3

I hope its nothing like COD

COD is a great game in its own way.

But the original opflash was so good because it more of an "army sim" than anything else - I think the US army used a modified version of the same game engine for tactics etc.

The original made me want to kick puppies.

What? I've just been shot through the eyeball from 3 miles away because an enemy sniper saw the glint of my contact lens?

I appear to have been killed whilst trying to infiltrate this small hamlet of no strategic importance whatsoever when the correct tactical approach would have been not to be there in the first bloody place!!

Well.... it is more "sim" than CoD... but it's more watered down due to it being put on consoles :(
