Rear window heater

Featured Replies

Just a quick question, I have an 09 VRS Le estate and first time I drove it today and rear screen was misted up so had to use the heated screen

this seemed to take ages to clear the screen it was 4c outside so quite cold, I was just wondering if anyone else thought the rear heated screens don't seemed to be that effective

might just have been too cold and damp todaybut surely previous cars worked more effectively

The rear demister on my estate works really well. All rear demisters struggle like hell with heavy misting/condensation.

Was it demisting in a consistent pattern across the screen? if so then its probably working OK and just struggling with some heavy condensation on the glass.

mine took around 5 minutes to clear not sure if that's normal ,my last car was octavia estate and that was around the same

I think the rear screen heater and the heated mirrors are both pretty naff in the Octavia.

Doesnt help with the screen issue that it gets so bad in cold weather.

There is actually a re-call for the heated rear windscreen on certain 09 VRSs, i presume yours will be one of those effected by it. Phone your dealer and ask them about it, im sure they will be more than willing to help!

Just a plug into the computer and a bit of re-programming should fix it!

Interesting........! I noticed on the first occasion I used mine it took longer than expected, mine is a FL hatch and I see they have changed the demister from the older car I had before(2 extra vertical lines).

Thanks all for the quick responses, will give the dealer a call and ask about it.

The heated windscreen problem will be published and applicable car owners will be notified, interestingly though, there is also a recall regarding leaking engine oil coolers, which wont be published and will be checked when cars are taken in for a service.

I will try and dig out the appropriate paperwork and let you know the effected chassis numbers when i get a minuite.

I have booked the car in for a quick check on Friday, will pick up some oil at same time as the level has dropped to half way down the dip stick in the first 1000 miles, dont suppose you know how much that equates to in oil terms ?
