Anyone had dealings with DVLA over wrong V5?

Featured Replies

My VRs is clearly not an Ambiente TDi! :thumbdwn: I am the second owner, the log book has been wrong since they first issued it, DVLA's f*ck up but now I have to get some letter to prove that the car is what it is (everything I have service book and history/paperwork show its petrol 1.8T) even the log book says petrol 1798 (or whatever the exact cc is) Skoda UK tell me it IS a vRS, I've now got the hassle of getting certificate of conformity etc, from talking to Skoda seems they mess up quite often

Well I never, I mean I didn't really want to sell the vRS, but coming up at a TDi at the guys insurance broker has put him right off as it is 'dodgy' :(

Hopefully the cert of conf turns up in the post, just annoying that its DVLA's error and we have to do all the running about

Thanks for the links, your search was obviously better than mine!

BTW joined when bought the RS :wavey:

This is a very common issue and for some reason VRS's seem to have the mix up with Ambiente TDis.

I had the same. Mine was an Ex police car and i was told that the force order up a number of cars and then get the reg docs sent to them. A lot of Hampshire VRS's were logged as Ambiente TDi. I got mine changed by just adding the model VRS in the log book and sending it off, did not need anything else. It came back registered as a VRS.

Lucky you! DVLA told me that was not sufficient to change it, got the Certificate of Conformity which didn't even state what model it is so that was useless, then spoke to another really help guy at Skoda UK Customer Services who sorted a letter confirming the model.

Had that problem with Ibiza Cupra. Log book showed it as a 5dr! Just changed it on the column on the right and sent off. Was a pain though!

I had that with my then brand new 2001 vRS, it too was an ambiente TDI. All sorted by the Skoda dealer and new V5 issued by DVLA with a correct description.

Its best get it sorted, otherwise things like online insurance quotes and so on will all be wrong especially those that get the make/model from the VRM.
