changing stereo

Featured Replies

hi guys i'm new here, but i am wanting to know about where i can get one of them things that fill the gap between where the standard radio was and the aftermarket stereo to the dash, as there is a gap of just under 1cm all round,i've been to halfords and they say that they dont make one for a felicia, although they do for a fabia. would it be same size as a fabia, as most manufacturers all use stereos the same, its a mk2 felicia i think.

I think you mean a radio fixing cage to hold the unit in the dash??

If you didnt take it from the old unit you need to go to Halfords or any other car audio place. Should cost under £20

not sure, the gap is too big for the cd player by about 1cm all round, halfords sell the bit to fit a fabia but not a felicia, they're a piece of plastic, that fills the gap around the head unit, and has the gap in the middle to slot the cd plaer through nicely and it leaves no gap then,

I think I might know what you mean!!!

You mean the black plastic trim that sits around the end of the stereo so it doesnt look out of place?

I dont have that on mine as I stuck it in my sisters car as she has the same stereo.

Unless im totally not understanding. Have you got pics?

The trim comes with the stereo, and isn't a universal one for the car, sadly.

I think you may be missing the below part from inside the lower dash?! The Fabia one will not fit. If you need one your best chance of finding one of these is at a scrap yard, one from the older Favorit will also fit I think.

To replace, you first need to remove the centre console. This is done by removing the small plastic trim near the handbrake, then undoing the screw underneath. Then the plastic insert in front of the console will lift out. You then need to undo 2 nuts holding the console to the underside of the dash and there may be some other bits holding it in, should hopefully be self explanatory. This part is held in with 2 screws which also hold a bracket that provides the fixing for the centre console. In the bits on the bottom are 2 square nuts that the screws screw into.

The original stereo should have had one of these around it but the cage would have been fixed in. You first would need to remove the stereo from the cage then unbend the tabs at the front of it.
