how much oil does a petrol vrs use

Featured Replies

As the title says how much oil should a 2006 mk2 petrol vrs use.

Sorry i tried to search for this for some unknown reason it said there are NO posts about oil.

I have no idea there are no results i tried last night and had the same result

thanks

dave

In my experience about 1litre every few thousand miles...although I think some may say higher. Can't say I think it's as excessive as some have implied...it would be worse if you ran a Mazda RX8!!!

Not sure what you are doing as regards searching...as I am sure there must be oil use threads?

There seem to be very variable experiences on this. I've owned my 2008 TFSI from new and ran it in very carefully. It seems to use virtually no oil at all - not more than about 500ml in 6000 miles anyway.

I must admit - mine uses about twice that of post #5.

I reckon i'm using about 1 litre per 5k miles.

I don't hang around though..... and the car is remapped.

Hope this helps.

It will differ from car to car. How the car's been run in, driving style, type of driving routes, mileage, remapped etc etc

For mine I would probably say 1L per 5k miles, but I just keep an eye on it and check it every 1-2 weeks depending on how much I'm using it.

Yes, mine was REVO Stage 1 remapped from 1k miles (after running in) and has Milltek exhaust. It gets redlined from time to time, but I'm no nutter. To some extent its probably the luck of the draw on the assembly line and depends which tolerance range of pistons you get etc etc

Mine uses very close to zero oil (maybe 50-100ml in 6,000Km) - I did run it in with considerable (but thoughtful) vigour.

Mine goes from the full mark to the min mark in 2500 miles approx.

I have found that if you only fill up to half way on the dipstick it seems to last longer in the engine than filling it to the full on the dipstick.

Having said that i have (not including services and my own oil change) gone through 7L of longlife oil and the car has done 49k miles
