Does anybody know if octy2 elegance seats are any wider than my vrs2 seats, which is a real pain in the thighs, having a wide/ish beam myself its not really not the cars fault,I should have been more vigilant before i purchased what is other wise a great car, could the drivers seat be professionally be altered to suit any ideas, maybe cheaper to have liposuction.

I see you have the L/K and probably the seats are flatter that my heavily bolstered seats in the VRS which seems to be perfect if you travel at more that mach 3, keeps the old blood from feeding both legs, helps to keep you conscious at all times though.

cheers mate.

Im 6ft and 12 1/2 stone, so im not that of a big fella. But for the first 4-5 months after fitting my vRS seats they hurt my right leg quite alot.

I even started a thread about it, i was that concerned!

I have found that the side bolsters can dig into the underneath of your thighs. Sitting slightly further back, and therefore having your legs more straight out forward can help.

Even though I am tall, I don't have the seat on its lowest setting. I pull the lever up two times from its lowest setting meaning that the seat is not tilted as much again so that the front of the seat does not dig in.

Once adjusted, the seats work very well for me

IIRC there was a similar thread to this a while back. IIRC there was a member who was a Physio who posted about this, and they suggested sitting further back so your legs were straighter. There was also something about having the right amount of support under your thighs that was also important (not too much not too little). All their comments seemed to make a lot of sense too!

Are the LE seats the same shape I wonder? One of the Octys I tested was an LE and it was very very comfee.

Thanks guys,as for having the seat further back, having short legs it would be awkward, think of a 5' '9'' Henry V111 thats me, same age apparently.

Simba.;)

The LE seats are the same as the normal vRS seats 'underneath', however they have obviously been re-trimmed with leather, but they also appear to have more/softer padding in them. They are v nice.

I just wish the LE seats were an option on the normal vRS. I have ended up going for leather in my new vRS, but will have to see if this feels any different to the normal seats when I eventually get it.

Griffo, many thanks,I'll certainly check out the other seats in the Octavia range if and when I change again,as I've said before it really a shame when the rest of the car I enjoy.simba. P.S.wonder if the VRS can be orded with normal seats.

Are you sure its not the seating position? Im a big lad, not in height :D and my VRS seats are the comfiest Ive been in, and very supportive. I drove a Mk5 Passat yesterday as a courtesy car, its seats were wider and flatter than mine and my back and thighs were aching especially around the Kidney area (and it was only for about 30 miles!). Id try a few seat adjustments.

I am not aware of any option for vRS seats other than the vRS leather option.

A full leather re-trim and extra padding can appaarently be done for not too much more than the price of the vRS leather option - £800 (Seat Surgeons have been recommended).

Apparently the seats can be 'clipped' in and out (according to the dealer who was going to retro-fit leather seats to my new vRS when they cocked up the order). So seats from another Octavia model could be an answer but IMHO would not look right.

Perhaps the option in line with the title of the thread is the way forward :)

I had much the same problem on long drives (6ft 6in and adequately framed)... a bit of a play around with the seat positions and I have no problems now!

It's the seat base thats way to narrow and where it is heavily bolstered digs in my legs, the seat back is perfect.

Griffo, had my legs checked today for a dose of lipo, the results was legs o/k but **** is to wide.:rubchin:

Nothing that a scalpel and a vacuum cleaner couldn't sort out! :D

Try taking your wallet out of your back pocket.

Sounds odd I know, but on some of my trousers, it sits a little too low and when seated presses right against my sciatic nerve. Taen out, huge improvement in comfort.

Must have more money in it than mine ;)
