Questions:

1. What exactly are the little popper seatbelt clips for (that are stitched onto the back seats) and do they have any safety implications?

2. Can you fade the music to front or back (in a 1.2TSI SE)?

3. Could children recline the backseats when they are tired (on the move) without any problems with parcelshelf etc?

4. Can you lock the car with people in it without setting off an alarm?(clarification: me and the kids in the car in a dodgy area whilst hubby nips to the shop - never seems to work in the A4)

5. If you remove the middle seat to push the 2 outer ones towards the centre, what do you do about people seeing what you've got in the boot?

6. Storm blue or Amazonian Green?

1. do they have something to do with securing the rear seats when they are rolled up - they clip onto the front headrest I think - same as Roomster.

2. Pass

3. the seats only recline a little (or did when we tried) enough to be more comfortable and no, didn't have a problem with the parcel shelf - I seem to think there is a small gap when the seats are completely upright/forward. There is an extra retractable parcel shelf in the optional accessories.

4. Pass

5. yes you get a gap through to the boot. I haven't had a parcel shelf for years but always have a picnic blanket in the boot anyway and use that to cover stuff. One big plus with the seats centred is that an adult in the front has a much better view of children in the back and can turn round to talk to them/hand out snacks/wipe noses etc without wrenching their back.

6. Green

1. The strap on the outer seat shoulder is to keep the seat belt in place no matter where you have the seat positioned (Lead to believe).

2. Not used the Bolero radio so not sure but there is 4 speakers in the front and 4 in the rear on the SE.

Radio handbook can be downloaded here:

?koda Auto - Documentation - Yeti - since 05/2009

3. Seat angle not to sure on but may depend on how far back or forward the seat is positioned.

4. Yes there's an internal motion sensor deactivation switch on the 'B' pillar next to drivers seat.

5. Storm Blue for me (had a Octi Mk I in a similar colour looked great)

The Instruction book for the Bolero radio shows, under Balance Fader, Balance (Left to Right) and Fader (Front to Rear).

Page 51 of the Owners Manual shows the Interior Monitor and Towing Protection Monitor switch. I presume this switches off the movement sensors in the car.

A sad and salutory tale:- My X-Trail had interior monitors and the alarm horn itself was located inside the car. (a logical place if you want to upset anyone who wants to drive off in the car!!! - unless the thief is deaf) We occasionally left our beautiful dog locked inside (shopping for instance - and we always left the windows open)

On a few occasions I forgot to disable the interior monitors and I am sure his deafness in later life was due to the alarm horn being triggerd by his movement inside the car.

He passed away four years ago at the ripe old age of 15 but I still feel very sorry and guilty about those forgetful moments. Now waiting for a call from the RSPCA!!

Thanks for all the answers! Aerofurb - looked at your link and I have to say the brown 'Muscovado' looks surprisingly good! :eek:Aahhh! Also it showed the SE style alloys instead of the Elegance ones that are always shown. Personally I think the chunkier SE alloys actually suit the Yeti more - but that probably because I'm looking at a 1.2TSI SE!

Also like the thought of being able to see the kids more easily when 2 seats slid in to centre (thanks weaver) but my job involves parking in some 'interesting' places and I think I need no tempting glimpse of boot contents on show/hidden under blanket, from the gaps between the seats. I may have to come up with some cunning solution for that...

Having seen an SE in Muscovado I would fully agree one of the best colours metallic for the Yeti.

I prefer the "dolomites" on the SE too, although I'd probably be looking at an Elegance. Shame Skoda UK don't give you a choice! They're both 17in.

have you had a look at the accessories catalogue? pdf here

page 15 has a picture of the boot cover behind the rear seats, the attachment to the backs of the seats appears to be velcro tabs - presumably this could also be left hanging vertically down and thereby do want you want, though it may need extending in the length.

Dolomites are available as a retailer accessory on all Yeti models for £143 (presumably each).

I agree they look good, I think they're the best wheels availble on the Yeti. Luckily I'm looking at getting an SE assuming the price on our car scheme doesn't shoot up in the next few months.

If I bought an Elegance though I'd need to shell out £600 to buy the Dolomites, then get them changed (hoping the tyre size is the same) and then sell the supplied wheels. Be easier if they were factory fit!

I believe the top spec Yetis in Europe come with Dolomites.

I agree entirely, depends how important the wheels are to you i suppose. Personalyl I wouldn't bother changing them but if someone really want sto they can.

Interesting debate regard wheels and tyres, personally disappointed in a way that as usual we have to be different to most other countries specifications.

The Dolomites as you say look great and will suit the SE I have ordered but from a more practical point of view I would have preferred the similar 16" Moon alloys that are fitted to the SE's continental equivalent the Ambition.

Why; well tyres.

Out of curiosity I decided to look at options and cost if I needed to replace the rubber and was disappointed to find that the majority of tyres in the 225/50/R17 range are manufactured for performance saloons.

The only tyre designed for a SUV/4x4 I could find that is suitable is the Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport; again an on road performance tyre.

Considering the off-road capability of the Yeti this appears to be a rather daft tyres size to have chosen for this type of vehicle, winter tyres being the only alternative (as used on most off-road tests I believe).

The 16" rims however have the option of off-road tyres in the 215/60/R16 range and if you need snow chains at least you only have to change the tyres to 205/55/R16 rather than both wheel & tyre as with the standard 17" rims.

To be honest if you're planning on going off road the best bet would be to get a set of steel 16" rims. There'll be a better choice of tyres and steel rims are better off road anyway.

I wonder if the particularly good ride quality commented upon in the early road tests came about on 16" wheels - my personal test drive in an Elegance (with, I presume, 17" wheels) found what I consider to be a rather firm ride.

I'd prefer 16" wheels, but Elegance spec. Surely Skoda UK or a dealer would be more than happy to provide these as a no-cost option.

Never looked into this, but why do chains require a different tyre?

This is in line with requirements given in the owners manual:

16" 6J or 7J with 205/55/R16 tyres

or

17" 6J with 205/50/R17 (standard 17" such as Dolomite are 7J)

I'd prefer an option for Mud+Snow tyres rather than normal road tyre.

Then use a snow sock for those snowy parts of our unserviced raod.
