Celtic Tuning remap

Featured Replies

hi guys i ad a celtic tuinning remap done on my fabia vrs they claim 190 bhp and 309 Torque (lb/ft) the car also got a pd160 in take and green cotton panel filter, tock it on the rolling road an it made 168 bhp and 268 torque:mad:, an it was the same make rollers that celtic tunning got has any1 come across this before and any advice will be great thank:)

Rolling road figers are just pub talk matey at the end of the day a rolling road will give different figers depending on weather conditions and fuel. I had my meriva vxr rolling roaded at a place in Hull I live in Bradford and had a problem when i got there so had to come all the way home and then back again because the car went straght on the rollers the car was hot and only made 180bhp.

Then a few months later i had it re rolling roaded and this being after it had been driven hard for a week on V-Power (ecu adapts to driveing style and fuel) and it made 201bhp. So if youve been sunday driveing it on normal fuel not rocket ship stuff then the ecu will put the car into a eco mode of sorts so you get better mpg same as if its hot engine will reduce power to protect its self IIRC.

At the end of the day its on the road that counts there still good figers i would suggest getting it rolling roaded again some where else and make sure the car isnt hot when it goes on hope that helps?

Teacher sent it back and said try harder

38 bhp is still a good gain.

If the car drives well and delivers the power in a useable way, then don't worry too much about the figures.

I think a lot of remappers tend to overstate the gains - at the end of the day its good old fashioned marketing and buyer beware. You also have to bear in mind that the factory standard bhp can be higher than quoted (e..g. a PD105 might be putting out 115bhp...), so the remap gain can be even less than you think....

Yup, my PD100 apparently made 113bhp...

Whats happened is their 'claim' is rubbish, I might go claiming I can remap your car to 400bhp, doesnt mean I bloody well can.

Sorry to say, but your car on any set of rollers in the country wont run 190bhp unless Celtic Tuning tell them to run it in 3rd, saying we are in Africa and its 100 degrees outside...

170bhp give or take is a remap on a PD130. Torque is down a little I have to admit, but you win some you loose some.

Torque is a little down on what I usually do but 190bhp was always a dream I'm afraid.

On a side note, and off topic (dont shoot me mr admin pwease)

I spotted one of your cars a few weeks ago, dont ask me where, or even what car because my mind has gone blank but your company name stood out so  for that one :) Would have bee around the South Yorkshire area, and a skoda? maybe! lol.

Ha! My black Octavia perhaps? Although there are a few cars running around that I've tuned with stickers on

For the life of me I cant remember the car mate, I make a mental note of each bloody VAG car I see that looks slightly different for standard, and if I dont post them straight away, they disappear again, 90% sure it was on the back of the car, not in the cool headlight position, I remember thinking to myself, ohh ive seen them before somewhere, and then your add on here, so infact might not have been a skoda thinking about it more? LOL.

Cant do any harm. But I can give you a list of what they will say!

1. The RR you took it on is wrong.

2. Each car is different and the said amount is a 'estimate'

3. There is something wrong with your car

3a. You no doubt have a small boost leak = low figures.

4. We have your money, we dont care.

I doubt 4. will be used, but im pretty sure thats what will happen after the phone call in their office!

End of the day, your figures are fine mate, for a stage one map really. Drop it on another set of rollers to confirm, try not to get too hung up on numbers... your'll notice my siggy hasnt got any RR figures on, mostly as my bhp and torque is 'tame' next to others I 'read' about. Yet dont see them running my times, so I figure... I know which one is more important to me...

yea i no wot you mean mate they are just figures, celtic said they think( its number3 )on your list, its an air flow meter fault, i fink not because my mk4 golf tdi ad a air flow meter fault and the car was very under powered turbo not kicking in. my vrs is the same now as it was when mapped i havnt ad any problems with it and its still a quick car, i done enginge management test no dtc,s also checked the boost preassure al ok

whats it beaking boost at? and how much? assume there is NO smoke what so ever out the back?

  • Author

boost kicks in at 2300rpm and stays in till 3800rpm, no black smoke m8

boost kicks in at 2300rpm and stays in till 3800rpm, no black smoke m8

when you say 'kicks' in, do you have a gauge? or just going on 'feel'

  • Author

im just going on feel m8 avnt got a gauge yet

Should really start to pick up a tad earlier, and with remap, shouldnt feel like its giving up until after 4,000rpm really, guess the problem here is whats classed as feel, as the torque spike you will get at 2,3k will be mental next to 4k.

Where abouts are you based?

Thats quite a sentence.

im in south wales mate

You should try and get to a local meet with similar cars and see what thye think about it fella.

Good luck

In all fairness, Si Vxr's post was no where near as bad as others on here.

Most of the spelling mistakes were simply words that were spelt how they sound (EG Figures does sound like figers)

Regardless of this, he did make the effort to make a constructive post, so someone elses dyslexia isn't his fault. If every other word was spelt in 'txt spk' then i can a see a reason to moan about it.

Getting back on topic....

Alot of tuners figures are slightly exagerated because the majority of customers want to get the most BHP for the least amount of money. Very few are concerned about how usable the power is, or well it is delivered, and its only after a few different cars, or different remaps that people start to worry less about the actual figures, and more about how much nicer the car is to drive.

HTH

Have removed all the off-topic stuff :D
