Millers XFD Fully synth in fab VRS?

Featured Replies

Anyone know if theres a big difference between Millers XFD fuly synthetic oil 5w 40 and Millers XFE-PD 5w 40 oils? Reason being ive just picked up my fabia VRS but it needed an oil change so ive put in millers XFD as that was all i could find at short notice. My thinking is this should be safe to run for 10K miles as its still rated to VW505 00.......????

Oil MUST be be to VW 505.01 or you will knacker the PD injector cams and rockers.

I dont run anything other than quantum pd oil or Millers XF-PD Oil in my PD105. i wouldn't risk it running anything other.

XFD is a very good oil (IMHO) but it isn't suitable for PD engines. IIRC it's fine for the TDI without PD injectors as i think it's VW505.00

Use the XFE-PD instead or another PD oil.

Thanks Guys, looks like i just wasted £40, DOH!! Already got some Gulf tec plus VW505.01 on route from opie oils tho so the millers will have to do for one more day till i change it.

Teach me to write ALL the numbers down, not just the 505 part!

gulf tec oil...is that the semi snthetic one?

i personally would say best to stick with fully snythetic. (at least ive always been told semi is not as good as full)

fuchs or Motul VW specific 505.01 is a verygood oil, and not a bad price either from opie.

Generally yes Id prefer the full synthetic oil route, such as i have currently but not of the right grade for the PD engine, however the millers XFE-PD is also a semi synthetic and a lot of people rate it highy here, id guess under opie oils recomendation the Gulf Tec will fine for now until its next service as it states it meets VW505.01 specs :)

Maybe, but not for the PD engine. This is what it says on Q8's website:

'Q8 Formula Excel 5W-40 is a high performance synthetic engine oil for high performance engines requiring a multigrade oil. It's low viscosity and high quality components help increase fuel efficiency and release engine power in high performance motor cars.

ACEA A3/B3/B4, API SM/CF, VW 502.00/ 505.00, MB229.3, GM LL-025B, Recommended for VW 505.01'

Whilst it does meet the specs for VW 502.00/505.00, it doesn't for VW 505.01 or else Q8 would have said so.

Totally agree with that statement :)
