slight weep from turbo into intercooler

Featured Replies

Hello,

I done a search for this and couldn't find much. My Fabia VRS just has its 50k service and the mechanic told me that he found a slight weep from the turbo into the intercooler. Can anyone tell me if this is something to worry about? As he just said" keep an eye on it". Does it mean the turbo is on the way out?

Any Help or info greatly appreciated:confused:.

thanks,

Dave

sounds like a boost leak on the pipework i'd av thort...not the turbo itself....get it looked at asap

probably normal, the seals in the intercooler pipe work relax slightly when the engine isn't running, this allows a little bit of oil out, an its normal to havesome oil in the pipework , as this comes from the breather pipe on the rocker cover

Yep. My Leon has a very slight leak there, noticed at the last service. Nothing to worry about.

Hello,

Pipework from intercooler (mounted in right lower front bumper) to turbo (mounted rear of engine) have a series of inter-connecting pipes and rely on plastic type seals to stop any oil seepage.

However these seals do, after a time, allow oil seepage.

I renewed all mine earlier this year, but noticed one seal is already allowing oil seepage, 6 months later.

Keeping an eye on engine-oil level will give good indication to how much oil is being lost.

It is a nuisance and a messy fact this oil gets blown about, but not much more than that.
