Who do I change my HDD from F: to G: ???

Featured Replies

Because my camera uses F: when it downloads pictures to my computer and now have a second HDD which has been assigned F:

How do I change it to G: so I can use the camera download function, please?

If it matters, it's on Win XP

Right click my computer and select manage

Go into disk management

Right click the drive and you should get an option for drive letters

Is the right answer!

Ideal, thanks. Turns out it wasn't the disk thing causing my PC not to recognise the camera. The USB hub it was plugged into must have been dead. Swapped it to another one and it's recognised it and given it an E: name anyway.

Rob has said it already, but your camera will just be assigned G next time you plug it in.

No big deal unless the camera uses badly written software.

It doesn't use any software to be honest, it just pops-up a window with the files in like you'd see them on your desktop - bit like when a usb stick is plugged in. Easy enough for me as I don't need anything fancy to get pics off a damn camera :D

That is the correct way to do it, some devices however prefer their own crummy software.

As you mentioned above though, no software, no problem :)
