Bluetooth operation, stupid questions...

Featured Replies

I have an 07 Octavia vRS with the CD sat nav system in it. On the face of the HU there is a button marked "tele", and when you press it the screen displays "no active call".

As I understand it the car does not have a bluetooth device in it as standard, even with this satnav unit in?

The stupid question is this - what do I have to do, and how much will it cost me, to get a system set up in the car so that I have handsfree telephone operation via the thus-far redundant button on the headunit?

My wife has an integrated handsfree system in her Qashqai and it's really convenient, much better than shoving a headset on and looking like the Borg. I want that in my Octy!

I am an utter techno-loss, so the most basic advice would be gratefully received!

You could get a BT unit to fix on the sunvisor, they work quite well. Or get a Parrot fitted into the car, most dealers seem to offer this.

You'd need the OEM Bluetooth module and associated wiring installed. This can be retrofitted though, but needs Maxidot as this is what you use to manage calls and your phonebook etc.

See: http://www.octavia-vrs.com/technical/bluetooth.html

I will have the module and associated bits for sale shortly, if you're interested. Not sure if I'll go to the extent of ripping out the loom though, so you may need to get one made up. Will be cheaper than buying it brand new for a retro-fit though, as it's about £350 for the parts with the £>€ rate at the moment

I can't get my phone working with it, so that's certainly worth checking beforehand! What do you want to use with it?

I was in the same position as this - had the module, no loom - got one off Stu for a good price so may be worth checking with him. Also got the mic as well if memory serves.
