How much fuel do heated seats use?

Featured Replies

Hi there folks.

Just a quick one here.

Now that it's getting cold again I have been using the heated seats pretty much all the time while in the car now and this got me thinking...

How much fuel are they using do you reckon?!

I have done a quick spot of reading around and have some rough figures of them drawing about 4-5 amps and about 40 watts which is a fair whack really.

Anyone know how you would work that out roughly?

Phil

Errrm, about the same as using your headlights at a guess - i.e. you won't notice the difference. Maybe 0.1mpg if that.

Certainly not worth worrying about!!!

Stuff the cost... having a hot bot is #1 priority!! :D

Figuratively speaking... :o

Hehe!

I don't need the heater on for that! ;):D

Sod the fuel consumption, warm leather seats on a frosty morning has to be worth at least a mile to the gallon :P

Yep... you're right!

Whack it onto number 5 and away I go... nice and toasty! :P

40 Watts is the same as a pair of brake light bulbs, you can offset it by not sitting in traffic queues with your foot on the brake. I have to agree that heated seats are a good thing on the drive into work in the morning.

I try to avoid doing that anyway and with my driving style and try to DWB (drive without brakes) as much as possible...

What can I say... I'm a Yorkshire man!

Sign of a true Yorkshireman...

Do you turn your wipers off to save electric when you go under a bridge?

Think carefully - there's only one correct answer!

Lol... yes I think I do!

It's very annoying now that it's getting darker earlier... My lights want to come on and waste power all the bleedin' time! hehe :thumbdwn: :P

OMG!!!!!1!!

Think of all that fuel/money you're just throwing away on useless light energy! :D

Anyway... do you use your heated seats? Or maybe you don't use them to offset the use of the headlights?!
