Engine sometimes races off-load, Ideas?

Featured Replies

2007 1.9Tdi:

When driving gently at, say 30mph in third, the revs stay up when I take my foot off the accelerator.

If I then depress the clutch, the revs rise; sometimes to 2.5K then back down, sometimes to 3.5K rpm!

If I depress the brake pedal, the revs drop, presumably because activating the brake servo has an effect on the fuel/air supply side.

My guess is a leak somewhere in the air supply to the engine.

It's booked in to local Skoda dealers on Friday, but there is any chance that there might be a loose pipe etc etc which I might find myself and fix? I'm happy to fiddle, but am not taking a spanner to the Roomster while it's still under warranty!

Thanks,

Stuart

Common issue with accelerator, dealer should be aware by now, mine was - see this thread: http://briskoda.net/roomster/high-tickover/136054/

Thanks. They were. They ordered a replacement for tomorrow, as well as pointing out that Kwik Fit had fitted the wrong sized tyres a few days ago.

Took it back to Kwik Fit, who apologised and I left with new tyres, and the 'racing engine' problem gone!

Farmers Skoda had also said that diagnostics had also reported a possible brake sensor (ABS sensor?) problem.

I wonder if the original fitting of tyres had affected the sensor, and the 2nd fitting rectified it?

Certainly, there's no fault at the moment.
