Best Wax for Black Magic

Featured Replies

Been using up a bottle of Turtle Wax colour (stop shuddering you guys!) I have to say I find it a doddle to put on and take off but there is a part of me that just knows there are better protectors out there.

What say you?

Been looking at a tin of colinite 456, nattys blue, black hole glaze etc. Want something that doesn't leave chalk everywhere and is trim safe.

476 and Victoria Concourse on my old Black Magic Fabia vRS.

Also tried Black Hole, 476 and Blackfire Midnight Sun on the last detail before I sold her and that looked awesome

As for trim safe - there's no such thing with a decent wax IMO. Just avoid the trim when applying :)

All the pics are in my Fabia member's thread, from about post 80 onwards:

I use poorboys black hole followed by AG SRP

Isn't that the wrong way round?? Surely the SRP will take the black hole off as the SRP is a polish.

Anyway, I use DoDo Juice Blue Velvet, no pics I'm affraid, but it's a doddle to apply, doesn't mess up your trim, very durable and a great finish.

Correct, Black Hole (or any glaze or sealant for that matter) should come after any polishing stages...

Vics concourse applied with a DA..FANTASTIC !!!!

Ditto! ;)

Zaino is my preferred LSP range at the minute...........

Two coats of 476 and a top coat of dodo juice blue velvet (but the paint is in much need of a good machine polish tho!)... and of course my new wheels... which i quite like too. I really liked what the blue velvet did to the finish!! Should have took the picture with my dig camera and not the crappy phone tbh

OK, I've gone the whole hog with Dodo -

  • Lime Prime Lite Cleaner
  • Blue Velvet Hard Wax
  • Red Mist Detailer
  • Born to be Mild Maintenance Shampoo

See how I get on!!!!

Thanks for the advice guys - very much appreciated

auditek: They are audi R8 replica's @ 19" mate

tbh they look even better in the flesh than the camera shows - i wasnt sure when i ordered em from wheelbase, but now am quite happy for the money :)

Wardth: i've just used my red mist for the first time yestrerday, to give the paint a little extra, and i have to agree with what Baker said in another thread... its a bloody sticky detailing spray to work with.. i also noticed that it seemed to want to break down my MF towel and leave little bits of it on the paint :(

For me Dodo products are OK but I think a lot of them are just marketing items..........:o

Red Mist isn't a great product and Z8 is much better to work with........
