Fuel pumps from the new 'R' cars from Seat/VW

Featured Replies

Been reading some articles on the new

  • VW Scirocco R
  • VW Golf R
  • Seat Cupra R

Lots of 'R's :)

The articles mention that coupled with other things, these cars have uprated fuel pumps to cope with the higher outputs of the engines (~260 bhp ish).

Just wondering if anyone knows whether these pumps will be compatible with the lowly TFSI's in the Octavia 2?

If you mean the new generation 2.0TSI fuel pumps fitted to those models, no they won't fit.

The newer pumps use a roller type follower whereas the 2.0TFSI uses a piston cam follower.

However - the Golf R will use an older version of the engine (like the S3 TFSI) so maybe that could be an option?

Interesting Harry, thanks.

The skinflint in me is exploring the alternative HPFP options :D

I seem to remember a post from Stu where he mentions that the pump in the S3 is the same as the one in the VRS, so I guess that is of no benefit.

but i think its using the fuel pump from the S3. K04 tfsi engines can hit 300bhp without upgrading the fuel pump due to the larger turbo.

The only way to tell if that fuel pump is tested is up to the job is to get it flow tested to prove its ability.

A point of interest i think a new oem fuel pump is they are very expensive as well. >£300 iirc

A set of internals will undoubtably be cheaper by a long shot..

Simon, as far as I was aware a new OEM pump from the dealers was roughly £120 so not as expensive as you may think. This might have changed though since I last checked
