Still not selling the furry bikinis that the ladies were wearing at the Geneva show...:(

The one on the far left - I think I've had her.

I thought that £16 for a clothes hanger was a bit steep! I get mine free from the dry cleaners.

Can I get my Yeti model car resprayed in my choice of colour?

Well at least it now shows the adapter cable from eg iPod to MDI, but I'm still none the wiser about the MDI itself - last time I looked it was still not on the options list. (And none of the dealers I've spoken to seem to know.) The question remains: can I specify an MDI unit on a Yeti with Columbus satnav?

The code for MDI is "RA4"

You can order Columbus with MDI.

I have ordered a yeti with Columbus satnav, MDI and sound system plus a few other gizmos, it has been built, but still not shipped from Kvasiny..

The combination colombus + MDI should not be a problem.

I thought I would recieve a car that was built after build week 45 when I ordered, cars with the 140 TDI CR engine built after week 45 will get a "second generation CR" engine with 157 instead of 159 in co2 emissions (and new engine letters), voice control with the columbus navi etc. etc. My car was finished in the beginning of week 44... Not surprised, but still looking forward to recieve my new car :D:D:D

Not seen the MDI come up on any factory option lists over here in the UK, although I have seen photo's of the socket fitted on European spec cars.

Thanks for the info on the engine not one I was aware of, other than a change in the brochure regard CO2 and fuel consumption, which I had put down to a reassessment.

Interesting they have changed the engine spec already after only 13 weeks of production (UK). Although thinking about it the line has been running 6 months so a normal update in the Yeti's life cycle. Shame in some ways to have missed out but on the bright side my snow-monster should now be in the UK and we can at least say ours are fairly unique having the 'old' engine. Just hope they don't run out of spares.

Don't suppose you know the different engine codes?

The engine codes for the different Yeti engines are:

110 TDI (second generation CR engine from start of production) : CFHA

140 TDI until week 45 : CBDB

140 TDI after week 45: CFHC

170 TDI until week 45: CEGA

170 TDI after week 45: CFJA

105 TSI: CBZB

160 TSI: CDAA

I think I will be happy even if my engine won't be "second generation"

Thanks for that JonA,

Noted two types of 170 engine as well, going on Ants original 09-10 build plan the 170 would technically have been in production for only a week before they change engine spec.

Still waiting for aerofurb to confirm his 170 has been built as he was given WK43. This of course goes against the build plan but the increased production could have brought this forward, plus they may have a stock of the earlier version to use up.

Take it these original versions will be the same as fitted to Tiguan 140 & 170 plus Superb 4x4 170.

Hope you don't mind me asking but where did you source this information, as I am pretty sure my dealer is oblivious to this change.

Hello :)

The information regarding changes in engine types is from the Official Yeti SSP (self study program) I work at a dealer.

I cannot guarantee that the info I have read applies to cars to all markets, but it makes sense when you think of the varying info regarding co2 emissions in both the UK and in Norway.

There used to be lot's of different engines used in cars going to different countries, but when DPF is standard, and the engines are all EU V engines in both the UK and in Norway I can't imagine why they should be different anymore..

:)

Very interesting stuff from JonA regarding the change in engine specs.

James at Allams said he'd let me know as soon as anything changed on my Snow-Monster's status, apparently the dealers get notification when a chassis and engine number are allocated to a vehicle they have on order. No news to date.

Whilst I want mine asap (as everyone does!) if it didn't get built till the original Wk45 (ie next week) than it might have the new spec motor but if it's already being built and I get the old spec motor the car should arrive quicker - so I win both ways....

I'd be intersted to know what the differences are, they may just be some software change. Would I ever notice the difference? Probably not!

I doubt if anyone of us will notice the difference in the first and second gen. CR engines..

The changes that has been made according to the self study programme are:

1. gen. has got piezo element controlled injectors, 2. gen. switches (back?) to normal electro magnets like in the old PD engines. Sounds strange to me, but it's what the SSP says  Could be cost cutting??

Also new for the 2. gen: The pressure sensor for the DPF has got a different characteristic, and the way the ECU speaks with the other control units will be different. The new way of communicating is called UDS, not sure what it means with normal words :)

The second gen. engines will use a new engine mangement system which is called Bosch EDC 17-C46. The first generation engines had a Bosch EDC 17-C14 engine management system.

I hope that answers some of your questions :)

JonA

Thanks for that info, Jon. I'll let you know what I have under the bonnet - when I have a bonnet to look under...!! :)

I wonder whether the adoption of "second generation common rail" for the 110hp 4x4 will mean any difference to the fuel consumption and CO2 figures given in Itey's Technical Parameters. I know they're using '2nd generation' from the start of 110 production in Week 45, but the Technical Parameters could have been drawn up from pre-production - and '1st' generation CR ?
